Even more than most tourist towns, there are a multitude of things to spend money on. You have to be very discerning over which activities you do, or your holiday budget will be gone in no time! The town is full of excellent outdoor clothing and equipment shops, some of which will rent out boots, packs etc if you find you haven't got everything you need. Most eating and cafes are aimed at the young market, but are good quality and reasonable value. Try the wood fired pizzas at Bella Cucina, or queue for an iconic Fergs Burger. The best coffee we found was at Joes Garage. There are many small parks and quiet public areas to sit and enjoy the terrific views of the lake, and the snow capped mountains that surround the town. Queenstown was absolutely breathtakingly beautiful!

The people are really friendly and the town is full of diversity and multiculturalism. We loved every minute of it. We went on The Skyline Gondola and Luge, Paragliding from the highest commercial peak, The Shotover River on the speed boats, Clay target shooting, Milford Sound, Helicopter sightseeing over spectacular glaciers and so much more. We enjoyed beautiful food in a variety of high end and inexpensive venues.
We would go back again without hesitation for another holiday. There is so much to do and experience! My husband and I are in our 50's and we are by no means as fit as we should be, so if we can do it anybody can. A lively town with loads of youngsters taking advantage of the multitude of available activities. There are plenty of places to choose to buy them from. The waterfront is a beautiful setting for a meal or drink, but book if a table is preferred. We enjoyed Publics. The bakery in the centre of town seems incredibly popular.
We were not hungry enough to join the long queue outside waiting to buy. Clearly though it meets the needs of many. The gardens overlooking the town from the peninsula are well worth a wander around. All in all it has a great lively 'feel'. Go and enjoy.

There is heaps to do in and around Queenstown that will suit all tastes! Arrowtown is well worth a visit. Try gold panning, there is a lot of historical buildings and the whole place is just quaint and lovely, we also paddled in the very cold river. A must do is the museum as well, very informative and some great displays the recreated village downstairs is brilliant! Also take the time to drive around the lake roads, the scenery is stunning.
We holiday'd with elderly parents, so they weren't really up for any outdoor pursuits, which is a shame, I am really keen to try the parasail down the the peak and kayak around the lake. And do a horse trek! We are already planning another trip without the olds! Our accommodation at The Waterfront was fabulous - great location and view. Having a view made al the difference to our stay. The activities some of us did included the gondola, luge, zip lining, parasailing, jet boating and jet skiing - all are pricey but lots of fun.

The view from the top of the gondola is awesome. We loved eating at some of the pubs and cafes. Some places are over-priced or the queues are too long, but it was a busy time of year. Vudu Cafe was great, but you'll have to go to the 2nd one now. New Year's Eve was a wonderful time to be there and the weather was perfect. Otherwise, the snow season would be great too.

If you go to Queenstown you must take a trip on the steamship Earnslaw. It runs regularly across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak High Country Farm, which is a tourism operation with farm tours, horse treks, heritage tours, barbecue lunches and evening dining at the historic Colonel's Homestead. Earnslaw is the only remaining commercial passenger-carrying coal-fired steamship in the southern hemisphere. Other attractions of Queenstown include a 'gondola' or cable car to the top of Bob's Peak from which there are fantastic views across the Remarkable mountains; a zoo; and some very good small shops.
Close by you can find the historic gold-mining town of Arrowtown, which also had one of NZ's first Chinese colonies; the Otago wine-producing area; and two historic car museums at Wanaka. I loved the panoramic views over the mountains and Lake Wakitipu. Beautiful easy walk into Queenstown along the track along the lake. Pretty flat, gorgeous scenery.

Location location location. Ramada Hotel is only located 5 minutes away from the business and hype of Queenstown city centre, right on the doorstep of the Remarkables and in close vicinity to the airport and car rental companies. Wonderfully quiet, beautifully presented, very clean new hotel. Also close to village shops restaurants and supermarkets.

Highly recommend this hotel. Its very close to the airport. Central Queenstown is a short bus ride away. The staff is very polite and helpful. They can easily explain how to navigate the bus and get you a bus card discount on bus fare. The rooms have great views of the mountains and are spacious, clean, good value. We also had a fire place in room. The hotel has a restaurant on the ground floor facing the lake. We enjoyed our stay.

We stayed at Turner Heights Townhouse for 3 nights. The apartment is clean and comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped. It was cosy in winter and has a great view over Queenstown. The apartment is walking distance from town. Beautiful view of the lake and mountains from the bedroom. Good location.
