I may be fussy but that bed was hard. But it did the job of a place to put your head. Breakfast pretty good. Looks great for families with pool table, table tennis and pool but that was not for us. We do hope to have another opportunity to better impress you in the future. Wellington, New Zealand 16 contributions 2 helpful votes. Boy has this place gone down hill. We've stayed at the Solway quite a few times over the years.
However this last stay will be our last unless it really picks up! Start with the positive, the room we had was clean and comfortable - no complaints at all about this. There's extensive development going on at the back of the hotel. The old golf driving range and cafe are gone and the road to our room resembled a tank training ground.

Took my mother in law for a night away with the family and it was highly successful, she loved it. Great friendly staff. The room we had two double beds was warm on arrival very clean and had facilities for coffee, toaster and microwave. We had dinner in the restaurant this was outstanding.

Nice big room with modern bathroom so room fine just felt that the hotel bar and restaurant let the place down Our first three choices of wine were out of stock so ordered a red wine which was served chilled ordered a whiskey in a short glass which arrived in a tall glass when I mentioned this got a big huff from the server when I asked to change it to a short glass The restaurant has a very limited menu in our opinion to other hotels we have stayed in We are not fussy guests at all but just a bit disappointed with the service here.
