Sunday morning and another fine breakfast supplied by the cooks. Recovery run round the camp and circle led by Humpy. Bluevain rounded out the circle by giving an update on NZ bid for Interhash. Then the assembled hashers were pressed into service for a video to send to Tobago.
The trail was set on private land, and the owner came along to see what all this hashing business ,was all about and give a spiel and the history of the farm. I explained to the motley crowd, that this was not a run or a walk, rather a ramble, taking in the history as we meandered through the bush, admiring the ancient Puriri, Totora and hashers. The trail was about an hour long and we ended up in a shady hollow and his Sharkeyness gathered the troops or should I say crew to circle around , he welcomed our virgin runners, and especially Nick a German tourist who got out of his campervan to ask directions and was promptly bundled in a car, and taken on the hash walk, he wasnt dissapointed and Puff thats me named him 4 minute man, which was about the length of time it took us to press gang him into hashing.
In all every one enjoyed the meander and seeing a bit of Mangawhai a bit off the beaten track.

It has taken a bit to put together which included even talking to another town in NZ but we have found a great location. Our current committee is 12 hashers including the current NZGM, members from Christchurch and Dunedin clubs plus the only known Hasher living in Queenstown. We will open this up to 30 members if successful and hope that every NZ hasher will want to be a part of the event. In time we will be asking clubs to host a pre set run at Queenstown.
At this point we have a great team but welcome advice if you have contacts in the area or can bring something to help. The events of Fiji was an experience which saw us come second by just votes. As most know there was a lot of double voting plus a lot of meetings as Fiji tried to change the Interhash event. At this point Fiji again, India and China are bidding with rumours with Turkey maybe.

Over the last two years, Plan It Productions and the local IH team, have worked tirelessly in preparation to host the World Interhash in Trinidad and Tobago this year, Our team is now faced with Global events, in particular, the spread of the Covid virus, that will frustrate our efforts to fulfill our mandate to host the event for the period 23rd- 26th April The decision however difficult, was made after consideration of not only the factors listed above, which will undoubtedly create a total lack of access to Trinidad and Tobago and the services necessary to hold the event, but most importantly, consideration was given to the health and welfare of both the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago and the international participants.
The health and safety of the global community must come first. In an effort to be fair to all those who worked hard, volunteered and set the trails over the last year and those who registered for the event, and in consultation with the World Interhash Council, the Interhash Trinidad and Tobago has been postponed and would be hosted in Trinidad and Tobago on the dates listed below:.

Interhashtrinidad www. Virtual runs on a Monday night. Hashers encouraged to do solo runs at 6pm then circulate on email photos and descriptions of runs. Sing hash songs out of earshot of neighbours and eat sausages and bread. Bring some beers. Also group emails. Keeping in touch on a group email. Lots of banter flying around. Hare for this Saturday 50SoG gets one month reprieve. Plans building for virtual solo runs. Participation ramping up as members get to grips with the technology.
Zoom circle on a Monday. Only Corpuscle got lost on trail. Run celebrated on 30th March. A proper th celebration to be advised. AKA cracked the most clues so his reward was to be appointed hare for next week. Hashers encouraged to do solo runs and post photos and descriptions on Ladies Facebook and group email.
Circulation again by email and FB. Virtual run by Facebook for April Fools day.
Hare Shaggus. Turned chaotic with multiple threads of conversations and clues. Lots of self fining so everyone half cut by the time virtual circle came around. Next week hares Hornie and MB. A few on Zoom who have it. We are sending out small garbage write ups just to keep contact.
