Police launched a search for the year-old on Monday and put a call out for residents around the area to hand in any CCTV footage they might have. A handful of teenage surfers discovered her body at the beach in Wairarapa, with some parts of it only accessible from farm land.
The manager of nearby business White Rock Station, who did not wish to be named, said the surfers who had discovered the body came in to inform him of their grim find. Police confirmed the body belonged to Ms Shelar. Her two phones, including a waterproof iPhone X, were also found at the secluded beach.
Police confirmed on Saturday they were not treating the death as suspicious and had passed the case on to the Coroner.
