Everything was clean and functional. We stayed in a one bedroom with kitchette and it had everything u could possibly require, fresh foil in the oven and grill, shower caps and portable fan. Grounds we're clean and tidy.
And best of all the kitchen had a proper oven. As a diabetic very important to me I see what's going in to my food. Location wise great place to stop if you're heading south and have had long day driving. Invercargill is not too far from Gore. I hate not being able to cook when in motels but there is none of that at Charlton!
The photograph looks really dingy, but this is actually a nice hotel. It is clean and well presented in person. It had a full kitchen! Motels with a full kitchen are rare. But Guests, do not abuse it! If you cook smelly food and stink out the room, they will remove it. Leave the fish curry recipe at home and cook something non-smelly. That said, the room smelt clean and fresh when I was there. The staff and owners are very friendly, the room was very clean and comfortable and it is not far from the main shopping area.
I highly recommend the Charlton Motel to everybody. Highly recommended, we wish we had stayed longer.
