First timer backpacker dissapointment. As I booked a cheap room I would have expected also a clean room by New Zealand standards.
So I had a room with a toilet and wash basin there was a screen to separate the bed from the washing and toilet. One towel for a shower and a hand towel there was a clothes cupboard and a small side draw The bed and sheets and a blanket were ok but I brought my own Linen.

My carpet looked like it had seen better days. The fan was a life saver as the room was hot and stuffy, there was no window to open but a small exhaust fan in the window. The air conditioning was in the hall way so had to open my room door. I stayed for 2 nights.
The shower had excellent pressure and the desk staff are cool. There are permanent residents onsight. I did not have breakfast and eat out. Good location to CBD. Depending on your own personal expectations the over-all cleanliness of the facilities may be something to be aware of, other than that I did have good sleeps. Date of stay: January Location. Cheap but dirty. Poor quality hostel, dirty communal areas and with largely a non-backpacker crowd people who maybe live there. Had upstairs room, no windows just skylight, and got very stuffy in the day. Had a room fan but didn't work and had sellotape holding it together.
Bathroom was communal, and didn't seem to be cleaned over the weekends. Some toilets were out of toilet paper for a few days, but there wasn't too many guests so wasn't an issue per se. Breakfast was ok with good options for cereal or toast. Lots of kitchens with lots of pans, crockery, and utensils But felt like needed to wash before use as the general place was a bit grotty.
