Leaving Raglan mid-morning we journey through rugged country stopping for lunch and perhaps a cup of the Raglan Roast Coffee before travelling onto the impressive metre high Bridal Veil Falls on the Pakoka River. We next drive to the coastal settlement of Kawhia for a short comfort stop before proceeding to our destination to overnight in Te Kuiti. Our next stop off will be Marokopa Village and the 35 metre waterfalls of the same name. Some say the most impressive and photogenic falls in New Zealand so make sure you click away and marvel at their beauty before we take in another local natural wonder - Mangapohue Natural Bridge and gorge.

The 17 metre limestone arch is the remains of an ancient cave system and the walk highlights the stalactite-like formations, farmland and 25 million-yearold fossilised oysters that are exposed in the limestone outcrops. This iconic attraction has been running since the s and the limestone caves have a fascinating history dating back 30 million years to when they began to form.

We will have our morning tea here before setting out for Otorohanga where we will be stopping in for our tour at the Kiwi House and Native Bird Park.

A cornerstone of the region for over 20 years, the myriad of abundant and delicious produce to be gathered and savoured from its approximately 65 stallholders is not to be missed for any visitor to Hawkes Bay.

After a delicious meal at this picturesque rural getaway, we will be treated to a safari-like tour of the property to learn more of their sustainable farming practices and to further appreciate the serenity and beauty this tranquil location enjoys. Sadly, this is our final adventure before we head back to Tauranga. Arriving in the early evening we will undoubtedly look back on a journey enriched by first-class food and unforgettable scenery.

The afternoon meander will take us through Waipapa arriving at the ferry at Kohukohu on the Hokianga Harbour to transport us across to Rawene for checking in to Copthorne Hotel and Resort. The rail carts await you at the old Taumarunui Station ready for your journey down the line to the Republic of Whangamomona to be met by the shuttle back to our accommodation.

The Stratford-Okahukura railway line is rich in history, enterprise and tenacity. The carts are self-driven very easy, as there is a brake and a go pedal; of course, no steering is involved. All the tours have a guide cart in the front that is with the group the full trip. Each cart has a guidebook with points of interest marked for each station. The guide stops the group to give informative talks along the way. We are overnighting at the Spencer on Byron in Takapuna, Auckland.

This will be a fantastic opportunity to be a taken to another world to be entertained for a few hours whilst enjoying a heartwarming meal all in the elegance of a bygone era.
