Check in was very quick and we had an escort to our room and shown all the room features, this was a great extra. The rooms are very generous in size, kitchenette had everything we needed. We were even asked if we would prefer full milk or trim for the room. It is these little details that make for a great stay. Housekeeping was of a very high standard. We would happily stay again. Dear sneezydownunder, Thank you for taking the time to review One88 on Commerce motel here in Whakatane, it is always a pleasure to hear that our efforts are appreciated by our Guests. Our Housekeeping Staff do an amazing job of cleaning and presenting the Guest Suites to such a highh standard, and that makes it a pleasure to escort Guests to their Suite and show them around. We think it is just Good Old Fashioned Service, such a shame that most of our fellow Moteliers have gotten outt of this habit.
The little Glass Milk bottles filled with either Full Cream Milk or Trim Milk have always gone down well with our Guests and set us aside from those who offer the little pottles of Long Life Milk pre-installed in the Fridge. We hope we have the chance to host you again the next time you, your husband, yuour Daughter and your Son in Law are down in Whakatane.

Our experience began with very good communication from Liz and Malcolm, the proprieters. With the information provided, we were able to select a room that suited; on arrival we were delighted to find that we were upgraded to an absolutely wonderful space! We were warmly welcomed on arrival; Malcolm is a charming and entertaining Scot- think of Billy Connolly but without the bad language!
We appreciated a good run down on the local sites and restaurants- we followed most of the suggestions offered and ended up having an amazing time in this well kept secret of a town. The helpful brochures and maps offered were a real godsend. In my view a good test of a motel room is the "habitatiion factor"- does it look as though any other human being has ever been in the room?
The answer for our room was clearly no! The room was immaculate. Spacious, clean, modern and well provisioned. Everything in it was new and in top order- no problems here! I liked the full Sky television package provided- so many motels skimp on this and offer only Freeview; not so at One The beds were very comfortable and there was no noise at night.
