If you're visiting nearby attractions in and around Kawerau, or looking for accommodation, stop by and visit the friendly staff in Kawerau Information Centre. I was after details about getting to the Tarawera Waterfalls, and I wanted to do some hiking beyond to the Lake.
They also printed off a very handy topographic map which I used on my days walk to the Tarawera Lake as well as visiting the very impressive 65m waterfalls, after a short walk, most people can do. Next to the Information Centre in Kawerau are some great toilets, which were clean and pleasant to use.

Overall the Information Centre in Kawerau, has a huge amount of other attractions to learn about, and drive or walk to. They also sell Tee Shirts depicting local places in Kawerau, and I thought overall, in a quiet town, the friendly staff in the Information Centre were very helpful for my 5 day holiday.
