She held numerous leadership roles before being appointed to her current role of Assistant Commissioner: Prevention and Road Policing in , making her the first female officer to achieve the rank of Assistant Commissioner in New Zealand Police. Sandra is currently responsible for leading strategic and priority work around mental health, alcohol, family violence, youth and road safety. Her significant achievements as Assistant Commissioner have included completing a major road safety change programme and leading the security for the Royal Tour October of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
She says a highlight of her police career was her deployment to Turkey as a Security Liaison officer for the Gallipoli commemorations in Sandra provides a strong voice for women in police. She also actively mentors female staff who are aspiring leaders.

Jevon McSkimming. Jevon joined Police in after completing his studies in He has led substantial change management in large, complex departments and has delivered results and cost savings across Police. Starting his career in Auckland, Jevon took on front-line, Communications and Maritime roles before shifting to the far South, where he met a range of challenges as a rural and provincial sole charge officer.
The overarching strategy is about making great places to work, providing the communities with technologies, services and buildings which allow Police to maintain a high level of confidence with the public. Prior to moving to New Zealand, Sharon spent seven years working for the Multinational Force and Observers, a peacekeeping mission, based on the border between Egypt and Israel.
