Best App for Tournament Fish Culling in 2018 for iOS and Android - Easy Culling

5 years 10 months ago

Easy culling is now available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

I think its the best currently anyway...  My good fried, past coworker, and tournament bass fisher Jesse came to me with an app idea.  He said that Its been done before, but currently there isn't one out there.  Previous apps had not been updated, and for some reason, no one else came along to fill the void.  The app Jesse pitched was a simple concept.  Anglers (tournament bass fishers) use color coded, numbered culling tags to track the weights of the fish they catch.  You can only submit your best five fish, so you need a system to determine which fish weighs the least.

Culling tags allow you to know, by color and number, which fish weighs the least.  When you catch your sixth fish you cull your population and get rid of it to make way for the new fish if its heavier.  The problem lies with how the angler tracks which tagged fish weighs the least, and what their total bag weighs. Jesse is a great designer and I am a pretty good developer, so we decided to combine forces and make the Easy Culling app.

Tournament Day Convenience

Easy Culling tracks the weights of the fish on your tags and keeps your total bag weight updated on tournament day.  We also added more to the tournament HUD like tracking the health of the fish and a countdown till the tournament weigh in.

Learn From Your Past

Easy Culling doesn't stop at tournament day.  It also saves your tournament history.  You can add notes, weather, temperature, and all sorts of other details to each of your past tournaments.

No Internet Required

The app doesn't ever connect to the web.  It wouldn't be practical for fishers out on the lake.  It stores and autosaves everything to a database locally on the user's phone.  If you are at all interested in that... I wrote another post about that challenge.

Easy Culling was published June 6th 2018 in the Apple App Store and Google Play.  If you are serious about bass tournament fishing, I hope you give it a try. For more information on the app, please visit easyculling.com.
